Last updated 31 October 2026. Prompt Presets is made by NK Prod in France.

The short version

  • Your prompt library lives on your computer. We do not have a copy unless you turn on an optional Pro feature. You choose what text to include when sending feedback.
  • Nothing is sent to an AI model until you press the prediction shortcut, and what is sent is limited and listed below.
  • Anonymous usage statistics are off until you switch them on, and they never include prompts, chats, paths or credentials.
  • This website sets no cookies.

Data stored on your computer

The library and settings are saved in library.json in ~/Library/Application Support/Prompt Presets/ on macOS, using atomic writes and owner-only permissions. The cross-platform app uses the same library.json on macOS, %APPDATA%\Prompt Presets on Windows and ~/.local/share/Prompt Presets on Linux, and keeps its own preferences (desktop-preferences.json) beside it.

  • Chat histories. Retrieval reads your local T3, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, Devin and GitHub Copilot histories to build your prompt list. SQLite databases are opened read-only, and nothing is written back to those apps. Prompt Presets does not read other apps’ credentials or browser cookies.
  • API keys. An OpenAI API key, if you use one, is stored in your system’s credential store (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager or the Linux Secret Service), never in the library, in exports or in chat histories.
  • Accessibility. The optional Accessibility permission is used to detect the active chat and to append a prompt to a recognized prompt field. It is requested only when you click “Enable access…”. Prompt Presets never presses Send.

What is sent when you ask for predictions

Only when you press the prediction shortcut or use the Predictions workspace, the app builds context from one chat and sends it to the engine you chose:

  • Sent: by default up to 10 recent user prompts (configurable from 1 to 20) and up to the last 3 assistant answers (configurable), role-labeled, capped at 16,000 characters in total.
  • Not sent: source file paths, session IDs and chat titles. Tool output, reasoning and delegated-agent sessions are excluded.
  • Where it goes: to the OpenAI API with your key, or to your installed Codex, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin or OpenCode CLI, which sends it to its provider under your own subscription and their terms. Prompt Presets does not receive it, except with Fast Prompt Presets.
  • Fast Prompt Presets (Pro): if you choose this engine, the context is sent to our service, which forwards it to a model through OpenRouter and its model providers. We store each request under your account: the context sent, the suggestions returned, the model and provider used, timings, token counts and what the request cost. We use it to measure and improve fast predictions. It is deleted when you delete your account. The request also carries your activated license key and its activation instance ID, so our service can confirm your Pro license with Lemon Squeezy; they are removed from our logs and never sent to the model provider.

Requests are user-triggered, cancellable and time-limited, and are not retried automatically.

Optional anonymous analytics (apps)

Both desktop apps can send anonymous usage events through PostHog, but only if you enable Share anonymous usage and errors in Settings. It is off by default. Events cover feature usage, predictions, navigation and error categories. They exclude prompt and chat content, credentials, file paths, account details and raw error messages. Debug, demo and browser-preview builds do not send events.

Accounts, sync and teams (Pro)

These exist only if you create an account, and everything here is optional.

  • Account. You can sign in with Google, Apple, GitHub or email and password. We store your email, name, profile picture address and the sign-in methods you linked. Sign-in happens in your browser; the app keeps the refresh token in the operating system’s credential store and the short-lived access token in memory only. Passwords and tokens are never logged.
  • Sync. With Pro active and an account signed in, sync is on by default. It uploads an allowlist of fields from My Prompts: prompt IDs, titles, descriptions, content, tags, favorites, creation dates and optional curated-catalog provenance, up to 2,000 prompts. The Prompt list, chat histories, source metadata and paths, usage, prediction history, shortcuts, settings and credentials are excluded. Prompt text is stored by our service under your account; it is not end-to-end encrypted. You can turn sync off with Sync automatically. Without Pro or an account nothing is sent.
  • Teams. Sharing sends only a prompt’s title, description, text and tags, and only when you press Share saved snapshot. Update checks for linked copies send no local prompt text, paths or baseline.
  • Deletion. Deleting your account removes your synced prompts, your stored Fast Prompt Presets requests, the teams you own and your memberships. Deleting a team removes its shared snapshots and pending invitations. Local copies on each computer remain.

Feedback, bug reports and feature requests

When you press Send feedback in the cross-platform app, we store the category, subject and message you entered, your reply email if you provide one, the app version and operating system, and a submission identifier and timestamp. You can send feedback without an account or Pro. The app does not attach your library, chat histories, files, logs or account details. Feedback drafts stay in memory and are not included in analytics. Feedback is stored separately from accounts, so deleting an account does not delete a submission; use the contact below and your submission reference to request its deletion.

Pro license and payments

Pro is sold through Lemon Squeezy, which handles payment and billing and sends your license key and receipts; we do not receive your card details. When you activate or deactivate a license, the app sends the key (and, on activation, this computer’s name) to Lemon Squeezy’s public License API over HTTPS. The activated license (key, instance ID, buyer email, product name and dates) is saved in the app’s preferences file on your computer, and the interface only ever shows the last four characters of the key.

Hosted predictions require the license. For every hosted request, our service re-validates your key and activation with Lemon Squeezy. For Yearly and Founder licenses we also keep a usage counter (a lifetime total for Founder licenses, per month for Yearly), identified only by the Lemon Squeezy store and license IDs (no key, no instance ID, no account and no conversation), so the allowance follows the license and cannot be reset by reinstalling or recreating an account. That counter is kept when you deactivate the license or delete your account. Prediction logs are still deleted with the account.

Curated prompt catalog

Browsing the public curated prompts requires no sign-in. The app requests the catalog from api.promptpresets.app from its native side, like every network call the app makes (the webview itself makes none), and saving a template stores an editable local copy.

This website

  • It is a static site. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party fonts or scripts.
  • It remembers only whether you chose the light or dark theme, in this browser’s local storage. That choice never leaves your device.
  • It currently runs no analytics.
  • Like any web server, ours may keep standard access logs (IP address, requested page, user agent) for security and troubleshooting.
  • When available, download and checkout buttons take you to our distribution provider and Lemon Squeezy, which have their own privacy policies.

Your choices

You can export or delete your library at any time, turn off analytics and sync, and delete your account from the app. To ask about, correct or erase data we hold about you, write to [email protected].
